Award of Merit

The Award of Merit was established at the Swedish Council's 25th Anniversary in 1997. Since that time, the SCA has recognized over one hundred individuals across North America and Sweden.

It is a priority of the Swedish Council of America to bring attention to the noteworthy contributions to Swedish America by individuals.  The Award of Merit is given to honor and thank these persons for their work at the grassroots level in the cause of preserving and promoting Swedish heritage.

It is the Swedish Council's desire to recognize, publicize, and thank those deserving persons who unselfishly volunteer their time and energies, their ideas, talents and their hearts to the myriad of tasks both large and small that are required to keep our local member organizations in good health and to create, plan, implement and execute the programs and events which make those organizations successful.

Individuals are nominated by their local organizations for the Award of Merit.
