Dear host family!
My name is Carl Nielsen, but my friends call me Calle. I was born 1993 in Karlskrona, Sweden. Karlskrona is a city situated in the south Sweden with approximately 60,000 inhabitants. I still live in Karlskrona. I have just finished the 9th grade in the elementary school and I will start the high school to the autumn. I have chosen a program with a technical focus which will enable me to study to an engineer in the future.
My family consists of my mom, dad, brother and sister. My mother Ann-Christin is a headmaster over 2 schools and 2 pre-schools and that's totally about 700 pupils. My father Magnus is a manager at Ericsson. He is responsible for a product which is developed in Sweden, USA, Brazil and Italy. It's sold all over the world. My brother Per is studying to become an engineer. My sister Lisa has quite recently graduated from high school and works at the moment in a supermarket. We also have a cat, her name is Polly.
My hobbies are American football, music and hang around with my friends. I play American football with Kristianstad Predators. I take the train to the practice and it takes me 3 hours to get there and come home again. As you might understand I'm very dedicated to American football. I play runningback and some slot-receiver. My favorite subjects in school are English and Sports.
Why do I want an exchange year in USA? I like to travel; I've been in Brazil, France, Greece, Turkey etc. Now I hope I will have the opportunity to travel to USA, which is one thing I have always wanted to do. Another reason is that I want to make new friends, maybe friends I will have my whole life. I also believe that this is a great opportunity to learn English and learn more about USA. The way I can learn English in USA is much more better compared to how I can learn English in Sweden. In USA I also hope I can learn and become a very much better American football player. The level of American football in USA compared to Sweden is huge; American football in USA is much better.
