suffering

- The Suffering Human Being by Katie Eriksson.
Price: $19.95
In The Suffering Human Being, Eriksson integrates her caring research findings with philosophy, psychology and theology to present a broad perspective of suffering related to illness, to care, and to life. For Eriksson, the ultimate purpose of caring is to alleviate the suffering of others through compassion, confirmation of dignity, and a caring communion that is based on “caritas,” or love.
Kate Eriksson is from Finland and this book is the result of a research program on health and suffering conducted by the Department of Caring Science, Åbo Akademi University in Vaasa, Finland, where Eriksson is Professor and Department Director.

sanden

- Birger Sandzén on Art, Music and Transcendence by James M. Kaplan.
Price: $19.95
James M. Kaplan has written a book about the artist Birger Sandzén based on Sandzéns own written words. We get to follow him during his life in Lindsborg and on trips around the USA and in Mexico. Sandzén wrote a lot of his memories from Sweden and describes nature in a very lyrical way. James M. Kaplan writes that Sandzéns texts are wonderful complements to his images and that it’s unusual for an artist to see words also as his tool. But that was certainly the case for Sandzén.
